The Artisan Straps Story

Hi, I'm Jayson - the strapmaker here at Artisan Straps.

I've always had a deep interest in watches from a young age. This passion was sparked from being gift a digital watch in primary school and then a Seiko 5 diver in my teens.

In the 1960s, my grandmother was a shoemaker and cobbler and would craft leather straps made from leather remnants for my grandfathers prized Rolex Datejust. This watch was passed down to my father.

While it is unfortunate that this watch is now lost as it was traded for food as my father fled to Australia during the Cambodian war, he has passed down a deep interest in watches and leather goods.

As I began to acquire watches of my own, I always wanted to adapt the look of my watch with my the outfits I wore. Changing watch straps felt like I was wearing a new watch.

In my hunt for high quality watch straps, I've often encountered cheaper straps that compromise on quality, while the ones I truly adore tend to come with a hefty price tag.

It's frustrating to see many companies charging exorbitant prices for mass produced, machine-made straps while claiming a significant brand premium.

Crafting Our Watch Straps

Through countless hours of practice in making watch straps, I've honed my skills in traditional leathercraft. It was this dedication that led me to establish Artisan Straps, with the mission of offering premium-quality straps at a fair price point for fellow watch enthusiasts like myself.

Since beginning as a one man operation, I've continued to refine my craft and have now grown Artisan Straps into a small family business. Each strap now goes through three pairs of hands to ensure our high standards are maintained. Each strap crafted, stitched and finished by hand. We only use small hand tools and don't produce our straps in large quantities.

Due to our small scale family run operation and high attention to- details, we are limited to crafting approximately 25 sets of straps in a single week.

Our Goal

Officially founded in March 2020, we aim to make premium watch straps at an affordable price.

We believe that a watch strap can completely transform the look of your watch. It adds your own personal twist to the watch, reflecting your individual style and uniqueness.
