Tannery Audits

Every leather hide we purchase originates from a tannery that is a member of consortium committed to sustainable practices in the production of leather. These tanneries are audited annually to ensure these high sustainability standards are met.

Globally, the Leather Working Group are a non-for-profit organisation promoting a sustainable future in leather production. For more information, the Leather Working Groups Website can be found here:

Italian Vegetable-tanned Leather Consortium

With the production of vegetable-tanned leather being heavily concentrated in Tuscany, Italy, they have established their own consortium to promote sustainable practices in Italy. This is known as the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale.

Over time, this label has also become a trademark for high quality vegetable-tanned leather.
